Heat wave
London had two consecutive days over 25 degrees. Sunday 26 June hit a blistering 26 followed by Monday with a scorching 28! All I could do was laugh. This week apart from melting like a candle in a fridge I was kept entertained by listening in to concerts in Hyde Park for free (Kings of Leon and The Killers), going to the cinema, a friend’s b’day and my first ever British fish and chips (and mushy peas) experience. Yes, it took almost 6 months, but I decided it was time. See the photo on flickr.

Wimbledon
Monday, 20 June 2011, Day 1, 125th Wimbledon championships, tick. 7am start, tick. Food and bottle of red, tick. Sun, tick. Seeing Rafa warm up, tick. Watching the action from various courts, tick. Enjoying strawberries and cream on the Hill, tick. Rain ending the day, …I suppose this is part of the tradition…tick.

With Wales
The opportunity to visit Wales had once again appeared upon the horizon and this time I was successful in making it there. It was a weekend trip (the first of many I hope), and I was joined by a bunch of South Australian’s, which was heaps good, as now we could talk about fritz and stobbie poles without being considered weird. The trip involved seeing the sights in Cardiff, my favourite, the butchers shop home-made signs ‘Great Fathers Day specials, like steak, etc’, good one; a CAMRA beer and cider festival, a night out in Cardiff and a day trip to Caerrphilly Castle.

London fun
The month of May although living the majority in temporary accommodation involved a lot of fun (and the occasional not so fun moments). Events, journeys and all round epic weekends included such items as My b’day, a day out at Hampstead Heath, a picnic in Hyde Park, a speed flat-mating event, drinks at some very old pubs, seeing Little Red in Camden, attending the London Rugby 7’s, being patriotic at the State or Origin Walkabout night, Notting Hill and Camden markets, crossing Abbey Rd crossing, relaxing in Regent’s Park and a couple of Australian style BBQs. The beginning of June t’was a little slower (thanks Mr. Rain) but much the same ensued, including attending an INXS concert.
